5000 years ago it was native to India, before being discovered and introduced to the rest of the world.

And over the many years, all kinds of myths, rituals, ceremonial and, medicinal uses have sprung up around the herb...

...It was supposedly found growing around the tomb of Christ. Italian young lovers would wear a sprig in the hair to indicate their intentions. For the Ancient Greeks it symbolized mourning and Ancient Egyptians used it in the embalming of mummies.

It contains powerful antioxidants and traditional and Chinese and Hindu healers have been utilizing the health benefits for many years.

Aside from its many uses and numerous benefits, it's also fairly easy to cultivate. And of course cultivating it yourself ensures a fresh, tasty supply from spring to fall!
